Explore the art and language of folding origami! In this hands-on session, you'll learn the fundamental techniques and logic behind paper folding and create some fun designs along the way. Whether you're a complete beginner or have some experience, this workshop is a fun way to dive into the intricacy of folding and creating things out of a single sheet of paper.
Facilitated By: Tristan Haque
Tristan Haque is an artist, designer, and architect based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. She uses traditional media, as they are always exciting to handle and often unpredictable. Working with paper is her signature- how a single piece of paper can be shaped into something incredibly intricate has always fascinated her. In her works, she continues to explore how paper folding can be used in design and art.
Who is it For?
Beginner & Intermediate Level: 15+ years
Workshop Outline:
● Introduction to Origami Basics (15 mins)
-Introduce different typology of origami
-Demonstrate Basic Folds and Techniques
-Folding a simple model to warm up hands
● Hands-on Session
-Model 1: Fold an Origami Shark (beginner)
-Model 2: Fold an Origami Dragon (Intermediate)
-Model 3: Fold an Infinity Flexagon (Intermediate)
Each participant will:
1. Learn basic folding techniques and base patterns.
2. Create 3-4 origami models.
3. Take home a newly unlocked skill and paper product.
