My work in realistic woodcut printmaking explores the multifaceted nature of life and the diverse experiences that shape our existence. Through the painstaking process of carving into wood, I aim to capture the intricate details and textures of the world around us—transforming the raw material into powerful representations of the everyday, the extraordinary, and everything in between. The realistic approach I take emphasizes the beauty and complexity of life’s fleeting moments, inviting viewers to pause and reflect on the often-overlooked details of their own lives.
Woodcut as a medium is both direct and raw, demanding precision and intention with each cut. The tactile process of carving mirrors the ways in which life continuously shapes and marks us. Through my work, I seek to reveal the hidden stories within the textures of the world—whether it’s the resilience of a weathered surface, the quiet contemplation of the human form, or the intricate patterns that
emerge from nature’s cycles. Each print serves as a reflection on the diverse experiences that make up the human condition, exploring themes of growth, change, struggle, and connection.
